Higher Education

Morgan Community College (MCC) with a main campus in Fort Morgan, locates one of its four satellite campuses in Limon (along with Burlington, Bennett, and Wray.) Program offerings include transfer courses, GED preparation and testing, nursing pre-requisites, agriculture and business management, specialty classes for teacher re-licensure, EMS training, and computer classes. MCC offers the Sophomore Scholars program, which allows qualified students to earn both high school credits at the same time.

Accredited Online Higher Education Courses include: Regis University, Colorado State University-Fort Collins, University of Colorado Denver/Anschutz Medical Campus, Colorado State University-Global Campus, University of Denver, University of Northern Colorado, Colorado Technical University-Colorado Springs, Colorado Christian University, Colorado Mesa University, and University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.

P-12 Education

Limon RE 4J School District

With 469 K-12 students, the school offers significant programs for academics, vocational, music and athletics.
In 2015 the Limon school district built a new $22.5 million K-12 school that can accommodate up to 600 students. The high school graduation rate is 91%, which is 14% higher than the state average and between 40% and 23% higher than neighboring school districts.

These impressive school statistics reflect caring leadership and a long-established sense of community ethics and responsibility to move the community forward and expand livelihoods.

Limon Child Development Center

Limon Child Development Center, owned and operated by the 501(c)(3) Limon Child Development Center, Inc., provides pre-school services year-round including Head Start, Colorado Preschool Program and Private Pay for an average of eighty (80) three-to five-year-old children a year, including forty-five (45) Head Start eligible children.

Healthcare Facilities

Lincoln Community Hospital

Located 16 miles to the south east of Limon, Lincoln Community Hospital and Care Center is a 15 bed Critical Care Access Level IV Hospital.

Limon Family Practice

Operated by Lincoln Community Hospital, the Limon Family Practice Clinic offers primary care, tele-medicine specialty care, behavior health, physical, occupational and speech therapy as well as walk-in and urgent care.

Peak Vista Health Center

The Limon Peak Vista Community Health Center is a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) dedicated to premier medical, dental, and behavioral health services for people of all ages. The Center provides primary care services to low-income, uninsured, underinsured, and working families facing other access barrier.

Limon Ambulance Service

Limon Ambulance Service provides emergency medical services including 911 response, scheduled and unscheduled emergency inter-facility transfers, and critical care inter-facility transfer services throughout Eastern Colorado.

The Service also provides ALS mutual aid to neighboring agencies in Lincoln, Elbert, Kit Carson, Cheyenne & Washington Counties.
Advanced Life Support (ALS) throughout the county is staffed 24/7/365 - providing much needed ALS care in the rural eastern plains of Colorado.

Limon Memorial Library

The Limon Memorial Library’s mission is to provide free and equal public library services to all citizens of the area to fill the recreational, educational, informational, and cultural needs of each individual. The widest possible range of resources shall be made available within the limits of the budget. Support will be given to all formal educational institutions in the area, and early childhood use of the library will be encouraged through purchase of materials and programs.

The Library offers interlibrary loans and public computers.

Limon Area Fire Protection District

The Limon Fire Department was formed 1912. The Limon Area Fire Protection District was formed in 2007 as a special district. The district serves 407 square miles, with in Lincoln and Elbert County.

The volunteers not only offer their time to go on calls, they volunteer time to train year-round. Trainings include, extrication for motor vehicle accidents, ice water rescue, high angle rescue, structure firefighting, vehicle fire, first responder medical training, EMT training, electrical training, propane and natural gas training, railroad response training, wind tower response training and Hazardous Materials Response.

When they are not training the volunteers are participating in many community events. Such as Easter, 9 News Health Fair, Fourth of July Fireworks, Limon Car Show, Farm Safety Day in Hugo, Homecoming Bonfire and Parade, Fire Safety Day at the Limon Public School and Head Start, Halloween and the Parade of Lights.
